Satin angora rabbits
Three satin angora bunnies reside at Moonwood Farm, and they provide the angora fiber that is blended into some of my alpaca specialty fiber. Sienna will be bred for the first time later this year to provide a larger colour selection of angora fiber for my spinning. Bunnies of colours that we have too many of will be offered for sale as woolers.
Our bunnies are housed indoors in a large cage and are fed a diet consisting of large helpings of fresh vegetables and herbs, unlimited timothy grass hay (with a little orchard thrown in here and there), and supplemental pellets. Their coats are incredibly strong and shiny, and their lusterous fiber is harvested simply by combing it during their natural shedding process. They absolutely love their grooming sessions, Jasper and Nomi often squabble over who gets to go first (Jasper always wins).
