Rabbit: constriction injury, gangrene

Arrow indicates the constriction site, which is also the border between healthy and necrotic tissue. It is right on this border that the hardened mummified tissue is beginning to lift away from the the healthy tissue above the constriction.

Rabbit: constriction injury, gangrene

A view looking down slightly more onto the foot. What you see sticking out of the end of her foot are not bunny claws. Those are her toe bones, exposed as the tissue continues to harden and shrink. The foot looks wet because I have just bathed it - the foot is actually remarkably dry, except for on the end of her foot, where she has wet gangrene. The rest of the foot has succumbed to dry gangrene, or mummification.
